Ponderings

Now that I have returned from Europe and I am getting resettled into my life here in Washington, I’ve been thinking about what I really want to get out of this blog. I created it after being inspired by other bloggers, whose posts always seemed to be funny, informative, and at times very profound. Now that I am here, however, I am trying to decide on what to do.

My current trend has been complaining about PuGs and just whining in general, and now that I’ve gone back and looked at my previous posts, they just seem like self-pitying, self-indulging rambles. My apologies to those of you who have slogged through them! You guys are my heroes.

My hopes and dreams are that I will be able to help people somehow through this blog, and be entertaining at the same time.

I’d love to be able to write posts about healing as a druid, DPSing as a warlock, or other notes about any of my alts, but I find that I just don’t know where to start. There are so many blogs already out there, about all those things, that I feel like anything I write will just be well known information regurgitated through my words.

Is this just a case of writer’s block? I hope not. I guess I am just trying to write about something that interests me and is something that I enjoy doing, and making it fresh and unique and new for everyone else.

In the end, it makes me wonder if I will ever manage to be the good blogger that I would like to be. And I don’t necessarily want fame and such through out the WoW blogosphere (even if that would be very flattering), I just wish I could find a way to entertain and inform the readers I do have that doesn’t sound like me whining and complaining the whole time.

Anyone have any suggestions for how I can accomplish this? Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated…

Take care, everyone.

  1. Hey, I wouldn’t worry too much about what you write as long as you enjoy writing it 🙂 I have put a few tips on my Blogging 101 page if they’re any help to you, but really, it’s best to go with the flow and write whatever you feel happiest writing about. Best of luck 😀

    • Thank you for the good wishes and the advice. 🙂 I guess I’m still trying to find my niche of what I really enjoy writing about. As entertaining as bad PuGs can be, I don’t think I want to write about them the entire time I’m involved in this blog! 🙂

I will be sure to check out your tips. I can use all the help I can get.

      • Don’t worry too much about what you think other people might want to read! Let your readers enjoy what you want to write 🙂 <- biggest tip I can give.

  2. As someone who spends a lot of her time writing about bad PuGs, I could hardly criticize you for doing the same. 🙂 That said, I have to agree with Jaedia that you should write what you enjoy writing about. Readers may surprise you with what they turn out to like. 🙂

    • Thank you for the encouragement. I am hoping that I will be able to find something that interests me and my readers soon!

Jaedia has a tip about taking screen shots throughout playing, and then if one piques your interest, writing a post off of that. I think it’s a fabulous idea, and I’m going to implement it today. 🙂
